Why You Have To Supervise Your Brain

by

Did you know that your brain is like a toddler with a knife? My teacher, Brook Castillo, says this and it makes a lot of sense.

I hear you..”What”??? “What does that even mean”?!

It means that your brain needs to be carefully supervised otherwise it will be to your detriment.

Your brain will work against you rather than for you.

Humans have about 60,000 thoughts per day and most of them are recycled ones that don’t serve you.

Your brain doesn’t care what it thinks, it’s just a thinker.

The brain likes to be efficient, so it thinks the same thoughts over and over. These thoughts become beliefs.

Unless you’re supervising your brain most of those thoughts create belief systems that aren’t useful and hold you back.

To design the life you want, it’s necessary to question the thoughts your brain is offering you then decide to think deliberately.

Thoughts are totally optional. This is true 100% of the time.

Any thought you want to think is available to you. Do you want to choose ones that don’t serve you?

I guarantee your brain is offering you a ton of BS, but you think your thoughts are the truth, so you don’t question them.

It’s also possible you’re not aware of some of your thoughts because they are subconscious. When you’re unaware of your negative thoughts and belief systems you will repeatedly sabotage yourself.

A good way to find out what your beliefs are is to look at your life. Everything you have or don’t have is a direct reflection of your thinking.

Every result in your life is because of the sentences your brain has offered you over and over.

Take a look at your home, your bank account, your relationships, your job, etc.

Those are all a direct result of your beliefs. Telling yourself otherwise is disempowering.

Most results don’t just happen to you. They are something you create with your thinking.

Believing you have no control over the results in your life will cause you to feel like a victim and powerless. It’s impossible to design the life you want when you create these emotions.

If you want to design the life you want the only way is to change your beliefs. It’s the only way for change to be permanent.

If you simply change your actions without changing your beliefs, it’s a sure way to fail and revert back to the same behavior that got you the results you don’t want.

You’ll be using willpower, which is really just “white-knuckling” it. This never works.

On the other hand, if you change your beliefs it’s permanent. You will step into the version of yourself that is able to design your life on purpose.

To uncover your beliefs ask yourself the following questions:

  • What do I believe about my life?
  • What do I believe about myself?
  • What do I believe about my dreams coming true?
  • What do I believe about my ability to create what you want?
  • Why do I have the current results in my life?

The next step is to be deliberate about what you want to believe. Some helpful questions are:

  • What are the results I most want in your life?
  • What are the beliefs that have kept me from getting those results?
  • What do I need to believe to get those results?
  • Why don’t I believe this yet? What thoughts are getting in the way?

Next, ask yourself what thoughts you want to think? Some examples are:

  • I was made for this
  • I can do hard things
  • I am enough and worthy
  • My past was perfect
  • Money is easy
  • There’s plenty of time

If you don’t believe your ideal thought yet, add “maybe”, “I’m opening to believing”, “it’s possible”, or “I’m considering” to the beginning of the thought

Finally, mentally rehearse the thoughts until they become your beliefs.

This is not the same as using BS affirmations. They don’t work. Your brain has to believe your thoughts for them to work.

You will see MASSIVE changes in your life when you start supervising your brain.

Don’t waste any more time. Start today. The effort it takes is totally worth it.
